Beaverton Dog Training That Holds Up in Real Life

Beaverton sits right next to Tigard, where Happy Paws is based. That makes Beaverton one of the communities we serve most naturally. Your dog trains with a family-owned team close to home, and you don't have to hand it off to a big facility.

You might be dealing with a dog that pulls so hard walks feel like a workout. Maybe it gets fixated on other dogs, or tunes you out the moment something more interesting shows up. If so, you already know that a quiet living room and a pocket full of treats only get you so far. Real behavior shows up in real places, so that's where we train: neighborhoods, parks, stores, and ordinary daily routines.

Board and train is our main path to lasting results. Your dog lives in our home with our family, not in a kennel, while Brittney Crider, our Head Trainer and Founder, builds reliable obedience step by step. She has 15+ years of experience with every kind of dog, from everyday obedience to reactivity, service, and therapy work. We look at your dog as an individual and build the program around what we see, not a template.

You won't be left wondering how things are going. You'll get daily photos and videos texted to you from your trainer's personal phone while your dog is with us. When the program ends, we walk you through a full turnover so you can keep the new habits going at home. Our 3-Week Ultimate program includes an extended turnover for families who want extra time on the handoff. Every board & train, service, and therapy program includes a lifetime warranty with weekly refreshers as needed, at your home or another location, focused on whatever you're struggling with. The warranty remains in place unless you refuse to do the training we taught you.

If a full stay isn't the right fit, private lessons are one-on-one. They focus on the specific behaviors you want to change, and they happen at your home, at parks, in stores, and in other real-world locations around Beaverton. The first 4 lessons are usually once a week so you have time to practice between sessions. In the 8-lesson pack, the remaining 4 can be done a couple of times a week. Lessons don't expire, and every package includes a free e-collar and long lead.

We only accept a few board-and-train dogs each month, and spots fill by evaluation. If you're in Beaverton and you're done with temporary fixes, the first step is simple: a free, 15 to 30 minute evaluation at Summerlake Park in north Tigard (if the weather's bad, we meet under the covered overhang or reschedule). Board-and-train drop-off and pick-up are at our home in Tigard, and we share the details after you book. We also travel all over Oregon and into Washington, depending on your dog's needs.

What our clients say

DeAnna Lynn — I am so grateful to Happy Paws! My 4 year old Pup Ben spent 2 weeks with Brittney and Josh to work on impulse control and door manners. They sent me daily updates and videos, and it was amazing to watch the continuous progress. They provided me with all of the instructions and tools to continue reinforcing everything Ben learned at training.

Tori Ridge — I was definitely hesitant about choosing the right dog trainer because they get to be SO expensive. This pricing is honestly very reasonable with the amount of training and upkeep they provide. They are such a kind family who will do their best to get your dog on the right path. Thank you SO much to the whole team!
